Welcome to the new PAMIS portal!

UC Riverside has transitioned to cloud-based research applications by Kuali to standardize the processes for research proposals, awards and subawards, compliance, administration, and documentation across various departments.

Based on user roles established in Kuali*, the following modules are accessible in Kuali Research:

*Note: EACS is not used for roles and permissions in Kuali Research (e.g., proposals, awards, subawards).  Rather, roles and permissions for such modules are configured within the Kuali Research system.  Request for change(s) to individuals assigned to roles in Kuali Research need to be emailed (with a concurrence from the department SAA or CFAO) to kualisupport@ucr.edu.

Tools and Support for Kuali Research

Kuali Research's searchable Knowledge Base allows users to find relevant articles for Kuali system questions or you can look through the module specific documentation sections to find desired information. 

UC Learning Center provides users with Kuali research training that is specific to UCR.  Courses currently available are as follows:

FAQ

• Budget Summary - How do I upload it?

  When doing a budget summary, the proposal budget spreadsheet should be uploaded under the Internal Budget column rather than under the Proposal column.

• Campus Award Notice - Who gets the email?

  The campus award notice is automatically sent to EMF Accounting and to the PI and PI’s department administrator associated with the administering department listed on the award. If you are not a proposal creator or primary approver for such specific department, then you will not receive the notice automatically.  You may, however, be able to adjust the email notification settings. (Please see the FAQ on adjusting email notifications.)

• EACS - What is the role of EACS in the Kuali system?

  The Kuali Build C&G application in EACS is used for roles/permissions and routing of Kuali Build forms associated with C&G activity (e.g., Request for PI Eligibility by Exception, PreAward Spending Requests, Material Transfer Requests, etc.).  As such, department SAA’s should continue to keep this application up to date so to ensure that forms route for approval to the appropriate individuals. (Kuali Build C&G in EACS duplicated the roles/permissions previously established in the eCAF application as of June 2023.)

• Email / Workflow - How can I change my preferences?

  This article explains how to change your workflow and workflow email preferences.

• Email / Workflow - I'm a delegate approver, why don't I get the same email messages as the primary approver?

  Not all delegates want to receive such email so they are set to not receive email by default.   

  Here is Kuali’s article on the workflow settings which allow a Delegate approver to change the setting to receive emails when they are an alternate (i.e., by clicking on the Receive Secondary Delegate emails checkbox and saving).
  
   

• Kuali Build Forms - Why can't I see any anything?

  Even if someone has a permission/role assigned in the Kuali Build C&G Application in EACS, it does not give someone ‘View’ access to forms for which they did not submit and/or were not in the routing workflow for that particular form.  (Note: Kuali Build functionality does not currently enable such’ View’ access to others; however, it is something that Kuali Build is looking into as a potential system enhancement down the road.)
  

• Proposal Development - How to add a PI or co-Investigator and/or change their home department to a secondary affiliated department?

• Proposal Development - My job title is wrong in Kuali.

  The personnel title pulls into Kuali Research from a nightly HR feed.  Please request that your department HR person update your information in the Profiles system through I AM Riverside.  Once the title change has been updated, it will automatically be pulled into Kuali Research.

• Routing - If the questionnaires have been completed and no errors appear under Data Validation, then why is the PI still unable to Save & Submit the proposal into routing?

  The PI must complete the Proposal Person Certification (located under the Key Personnel).

  To open a hyperlink appearing anywhere on this PAMIS tab, please be sure to hold down the CTRL key while clicking onto the desired link.
